I’ve decided to bite the bullet and learn Ruby and Rails. I am instantly overwhelmed by the complexity. Gah!

For those of you asking, I posted my “30 days of coffee” retrospective including a short list of recommendations.

This is the most frightening video I have ever seen:

“Practice is over, but as is customary in Portland, the majority of the team is still on the floor working…”
-
Well, I didn’t get WWDC tickets this year but as a consolation I did get MINECON tickets. I’ll be there with Brendan so it should be fun.

This is a fun distraction if you’ve ever had to name a child:

If you like board games, check out this kick starter from some awesome folks here in Portland! It’s called Sol:Last Days of a Star and looks pretty rad.

This is important. I really must attend: www.oregonhumane.org/get-invol…

Elevated Coffee
I had hoped to gush over the waffles and coffee at Elevated, but right before we ordered their waffle maker died. The kids and I were very disappointed. I still enjoyed their coffee, but we wanted waffles! This was coffee shop #30. I’ll do a final review next week.

Posie's Cafe
I am officially in love with the Kenton neighborhood. In addition to the wonderful Prince Coffee, you can also count Posie’s (8208 N Denver Ave) among the great cafes located there (and they even serve Ristretto!)#pdxcoffeehunt

Case Study
I’ve been to the Case Study on Sandy, but not to the one on Alberta (1422 NE Alberta) and I have to say the one on Alberta is far superior. It has good coffee and a fantastic loft seating area. I could definitely come back here to work.#pdxcoffeehunt

Coffee House Five
Located right next to PCC (740 N Killingsworth St) this is clearly a college hangout. The interior is spacious and the coffee reasonable. I did feel a little out of place not being of college going age, but if I was back in school, I could see myself coming here.#pdxcoffeehunt

J Cafe
The only good thing I have to say about the J Cafe is that the coffee didn’t make me sick like it did at Gold Rush. The rapidly renovating Lloyd district is clearly ready for a good coffee shop to come in.

Pigtrain Coffee
I’m in Denver at the moment so my #pdxcoffeehunt is temporarily on hold until I’m back in Portland, however to keep up the momentum, here’s a cute little shop mysteriously called Pigtrain Coffee in Union Station in Denver’s LoDo district. Good coffee as well! -
Airport Coffee People
I’m traveling this week, so the 30 day challenge will pause for a few days, however, I did manage to try a “new to me” coffee shop in the PDX airport. It’s about what you would expect for airport coffee although I will add it’s worse here than the Starbucks.

Extracto
I’ve driven by this shop (1465 NE Prescott St) a few times but never had the occasion to stop in. Today, I rectified that, and was reminded how much I dislike trendy, cookie cutter coffee shops with bitter, oily coffee. Do you really need 5 pour overs ready to go?#pdxcoffeehunt
