I’ve read this before but started watching the show and couldn’t remember the details so decided to re-read it. The book gets five stars. The show gets 2 stars. 😞
Finished reading: The Three-Body Problem by Cixin Liu 📚
Really enjoyed this. Didn’t realize it was a series when I started though. Whoops! Also didn’t know there’s a Netflix adaptation in the works. Bonus!
Finished reading: The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown 📚
This was somewhat “bro-ish” at times, but in the end it proved to be a somewhat sweet story. I also enjoyed the history that was interwoven through it.
My daughter got us on the list to tour the White House today!
Finished reading: When We Cease to Understand the World by Benjamin Labatut 📚
This is quite simply an amazing work. It’s short but it is so amazingly packed. I will be thinking about this for a very long time.
Not everyone knows that my dad was a first responder to 9/11. Yesterday, I found this picture of him at ground zero that I hadn’t seen before.
Finished reading: Moonflower Murders by Anthony Horowitz 📚
I loved Magpie Murders and this was a sensational sequel. A very fun read.

It seems unjust to be sick in the summer, especially on a weekend. Throw in beautiful weather and I’m now feeling like I’m being punished for something…
Was down at the Mississippi Street fair and everybody started running because some guy got stabbed a little ways up from us. Decided to quickly leave. But on the way back, had to duck behind a car as about thirty shots were fired a half a block from us. Home now, thankfully. World has gone crazy.
We planted this tree at my dad’s farm when we got married.
Feeling inspired.
