Airport Coffee People
I’m traveling this week, so the 30 day challenge will pause for a few days, however, I did manage to try a “new to me” coffee shop in the PDX airport. It’s about what you would expect for airport coffee although I will add it’s worse here than the Starbucks.

Extracto
I’ve driven by this shop (1465 NE Prescott St) a few times but never had the occasion to stop in. Today, I rectified that, and was reminded how much I dislike trendy, cookie cutter coffee shops with bitter, oily coffee. Do you really need 5 pour overs ready to go?

Whole Foods Coffee Shop
I was a bit more adventuresome today and tried the coffee shop inside my local Whole Foods. They do have a lot of great seating and wifi, but boy howdy is their coffee terrible!

Arbor Lodge
I had been putting this one off for a while because I was pretty sure it was going to be a good coffee shop, and I was thankfully right. Great seating, good coffee, friendly baristas. I will definitely be back (1507 N Rosa Parks Way.)

My greatest hope for iOS 10 is that I won’t have to write code any more to move UITextFields and UITextViews on screen when the keyboard appears.

Cafe Eleven
So I shouldn’t like this place, but it somehow captures the neighborhood coffee shop vibe in a way most others don’t. Located at 435 NE Rosa Parks Way, it’s definitely off the beaten path, and with decent seating and good coffee it felt very comfortable to me.

Another Shot of Blend Coffee

Blend Coffee Lounge
Blend is my new gold standard for coffee shops:
- Great coffee (choice of Stumptown or Coava),
- Lots of seating both indoor and out
- Outlets at almost every seat
- Super clean
- Quiet

Heart Coffee
Working at Heart today which has been on my list to try for a long time. Great seating and location (2211 E Burnside) to work. My only complaint is the coffee which has an oilier, bitter flavor similar to Coava. I do not understand the bitter coffee movement. #pdxcoffeehunt

Cup and Bar
Got to spend a decent amount of time working here today. Good Trailhead coffee, wonderful open space for working. I liked it a lot. Cup and Bar is one of the few good coffee shops on MLK (118 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd.)

Wholesome Blend
Had a busy Sunday so found this little whole in the wall (pun intended…) The staff behind the counter were very friendly and the coffee was pretty good. I don’t know why these shops insist on using cloth seating which just collects food and stains though. #pdxcoffeehunt

Spielman Bagels
I didn’t have a lot of time today, so I ducked into Spielman Bagels (2200 NE Broadway St) and tried their latte. The coffee was a little sweet but pretty good overall. The interior had tons of room and looked like a great place to work in the future.

Bassotto
Hidden next to Tamale Boy at 1760 NE Dekum, today’s stop reminds me why I’m doing this #pdxcoffeehunt. Bassotto is an absolute gem of a coffee shop disguised as a Gelato place. Great coffee. Awesome environment. Wonderful people behind the counter. Love. Love. Love.

Goldrush Coffee Bar
Located next to the delicious Russel St. BBQ, I have often been curious about Goldrush. I am curious no more. The coffee was decent, but the interior was down right filthy. I likely won’t be back. Can you make out the “Internet cafe” services in the picture?

If you’re a basketball fan, then you will likely remember April 13th 2016 for quite some time: -Kobe scores 60 in his final game -Curry breaks the 400 barrier for 3’s in a single season -Warriors break the 95-96 Bulls record with 73 wins

The Fresh Pot
There are surprisingly only 2 coffee shops in the Mississippi district:Locale and Fresh Pot; this one being a bit rough around the edges. Serving Stumptown (Peets?) it had plenty of seating, and despite feeling a bit grimy the atmosphere was generally pleasant. #pdxcoffeehunt
